The PDC provided a presentation update to the congregation on November 18,2024 with approximately 50 people in attendance.
The summary touched on the previous work, including the 2019 Guiding Principles and the 2022 Exploration Committee property development vision, as well as the current planning and work of the PDC since its formation at Vestry 2024.
During 2024 the PDC has finalized the issue of the BC Hydro Right of Way (ROW), noting that BC Hydro will not be relinquishing the ROW property on the west side of the site. In addition, the PDC has reviewed the Diocese Property Development Strategy and the presentation by Rev. Tellison Glover “Engaging in Development” which he presented in August 2024.
The Diocese Property Development Strategy has assessed all the Diocesan properties with the intent to identify those properties that could be viable for redevelopment. As part of the assessment process the Diocese identifies which properties are to move forward with a feasibility study, which would objectively determine if developing the property is viable and, if so, what type of development is feasible.
The PDC believes that the next steps include submitting a formal letter of consideration to the Diocese for a feasibility study. The letter would build on the work of the PDC to date and put St. Cuthbert’s best foot forward.
